Milligan turns back Lynchburg, ends skid

Tragedy can bring a team together and on Saturday afternoon the Milligan College Buffaloes put together a great team effort for junior guard Mickey Woods.

Woods lost an aunt, and for their efforts, the Buffs gained a non-conference victory. Milligan (9-7) registered 18 steals in a solid defensive effort and toppled Virginia University of Lynchburg 92-71 at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse to end a three-game losing streak.

“We all wanted to show support for Mickey tonight,” said senior guard Torian Sitton. “It was an emotional day today. Our locker room is tight and we have a lot of energy. We just wanted to get back on the right track.”

Sitton scored a game-high 25 points with a pair of spectacular dunks thrown in the mix as the Buffs were active with their hands defensively — which led to several open layups at the other end.
