The raindrops quit long enough to get some baseball action in at T.J. Burleson Memorial Field on Saturday in Cal Ripken League play.
In the opener, Mitchell County (N.C.) took advantage of 12 walks to score a 13-5 win over Burgie Drug and in game two, Ole Barn (11-1) continued their winning ways with a 14-1 shellacking of the Avoca Dodgers.
Mitchell took a five-run lead in the last of the second on four walks — sandwiched around a pair of strikeouts — with Braydon Keller and Garrison Phillips each driving in two runs with bases loaded hits.
Ole Barn 14
Avoca Dodgers 1
The Ole Barn nine brought the heavy lumber on this day, bashing out 15 hits and taking advantage of some shaky Avoca defense.
Jeremy Cochran got the start and pitched well over his two frames of work giving up just one run on one hit. He did plunk a couple of Dodger hitters to put runners on the bases and Bryce Anstetter delivered an RBI base knock for the only Dodgers run of the contest.
