More details known about fatal accident

The Elizabethton Police Department has released more information on the fatal accident on Thursday afternoon on Broad Street where a 4-year-old boy was hit and killed by a dump truck.

The child, identified as Joshua Holston, was crossing the street in the crosswalk with another juvenile and his mother, Tiffani Marie Holston.

The traffic light had been red, and the driver of the truck received a green arrow to turn onto Lynn Avenue. The juvenile ran into the path of the truck as it started to turn. The driver of the dump truck has been identified as Terry J. Kyte of Bristol, Tenn.

The boy was transported to Sycamore Shoals Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The EPD Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
