Mountain City woman latest indicted in Facebook case
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Monday arrested a Johnson County woman after she was indicted last week for tampering with evidence during a double murder investigation where her husband was one of the subjects being investigated in February of 2012.
Barbara Mae Potter, 62, of 727 Hospital Road, Mountain City, was indicted Sept. 20 on one count of tampering with evidence. The 1st Judicial District Attorney General’s Office requested TBI investigate Potter after authorities witnessed her intentionally attempting to destroy computer printed photographs of one of the murder victims during a search warrant of her and her husband Marvin “Buddy” Potter Jr.’s home after he had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder the previous evening. One of the officers assisting in the search being conducted Feb. 7, 2012, observed Barbara Potter committing this act and stopped her from further destroying the photographs which were considered evidence in the murder case.
