Mountain City’s Heritage Hall announces holiday events

The Johnson County Community Theatre has a full schedule of holiday events to help the public celebrate the Christmas season.

 
Heritage Hall will present “It’s a Wonderful Life,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m.

 
The 1946 American Christmas classic, based on “The Greatest Gift” by Phillip Van Dorem Stern. In this classic holiday tale, an angel helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman by showing what life would have been like if he had never existed. Advance tickets are $10. Tickets at the door are $12. All youth seats are $5.

The East Tennessee Youth Ballet Company will present “The Nutcracker” on Friday, Dec. 13.

 
Sponsored by The Wednesday Music Club, the timeless classic is still enjoyed by audiences of all ages. This show provides a magical experience featuring animals and toys that come to life ,an adventure in a snowy forest, the best-known dance of the evening performed by the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the most powerful message of all “adventure never ends for those who have an eye to see it.”

John Woodall and Friends present “Christmas in the Mountains” on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Sponsored by Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank and First United Methodist Church’s thrift store, The Unique Boutique, this young and lively group will present an evening of classic and contemporary Christmas tunes featuring area favorites such performed by Woodall, Billy Gambill and others. This is a popular event for many locals who like to relax and enjoy the beautiful seasonal music with their family, friends and neighbors.

Heritage Hall is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring quality performing arts events for affordable pricing to Johnson County and the surrounding area and to provide a nice facility for local schools and organizations to perform. Tickets may be purchased by phone with a credit or debit card and retrieved the night of the performance at the door. For more scheduling information, visit www.heritagehalltheatre.org. For tickets or reservations, visit the Box Office at 126 College St., Mountain City, Tuesday-Friday, noon to 2 p.m., or call 727-7444 and leave a message. A staff member will contact you within 48 hours.
For the remainder of December and the entire month of January, the Heritage Hall stage will go black, allowing the many volunteers a much-needed break and a time to clean or repair the Hall. However, the staff will always be available to check messages and return calls if anyone needs to purchase or make inquiries regarding gift certificates or season passes.
