Mullins steps down as ETSU AD

By

JOHNSON CITY — To some, he’s the former tennis coach who brought a struggling department out of the red and into the black — and led a revival of improvements for non-revenue sports.
To others, he’s the athletic director who helped preside over the controversial removal of a beloved university institution.
East Tennessee State University announced Monday that Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins, the longest tenured AD in the program’s Division I era, has stepped down from his position into a new role assisting new President Dr. Brian Noland with fundraising and facility development among other duties.
“I’m extremely proud of the positive accomplishments, changes, growth and successes of our athletes, coaches and administrative team,” said Mullins, who will retire from his full-time position June 30. “Our athletics goals are going to involve even more facility development and significantly greater financial support. In my new role (Dr. Noland) and I can focus on these priorities … to accomplish our goals.”
