Murder suspect awaiting first court appearance

A murder suspect remains incarcerated in the Carter County Jail pending a likely appearance next week in Sessions Court.

In the meantime, the Carter County Sheriff’s Department has released a report regarding the Oct. 16, 2011 death of Larry Whittaker and last week’s arrest of 32-year-old Israel Goudy.

Investigator Travis Ludlow stated in the report that officers were called to 257 Reynolds Road on an assault call. Upon arrival, officers found Goudy lying in the roadway with multiple stab wounds. Goudy told officers that another male subject, Whittaker, was lying in the front yard and had a gun.
