Nearly 1,400 turn out for early voting in Carter County

Despite an increase over the last few days, election officials are reporting a low turnout for the 14-day early voting period in Carter County. Saturday marked the final day that registered voters across Carter County and the State of Tennessee could participate in early voting in advance of this Thursday’s state primaries and county general election.

For the two weeks of early voting, Carter County Election Administrator Tracy Harris reports that a total of 1,365 registered voters cast ballots at the courthouse voting precinct.

Over the final two days of the early voting period, 295 county residents participated in the state primaries and local general election. Most of those who voted in the last two days appeared at the polling precinct on Friday. Harris said 216 registered voters cast a ballot on Friday, with another 79 doing so on Saturday.
