By

The new Carter County Jail has passed its first inspection by the Tennessee Corrections Institute, about four months after its official opening.

Sheriff Chris Mathes announced Monday that on Oct. 9, inspectors from the TCI conducted their annual surprise inspection at the Carter County Jail. State Jail Inspector and Facility Specialist William R. Kane performed the initial inspection of the new jail and issued a subsequent report of his findings, which was recently received by the county.
