New Road Construction
Construction work is progressing on the widening and realignment of State Route 362 (Gap Creek Road). The construction work covers 5.9 miles, extending from SR 361 to SR 67. The new construction will consist of 10- to 12-foot lane widths, new shoulders and varying curbs, gutter and guardrail.
Charles Blalock & Sons is the contractor for the project, which is expected to cost around $37 million. The work is expected to be completed by the fall of 2014, and is expected to divert a lot of traffic from Broad Street and W. Elk Avenue.
