This traffic signal will soon be installed at the intersection of Judge Don Lewis Boulevard and State Route 91 in Stoney Creek.

The red and green Elizabethton drivers see this Christmas season won’t be confined to holiday decorations.

Elizabethton’s two newest traffic signals – including one at Sycamore Shoals Hospital – will be online and functioning in time to handle the rush of Christmas traffic if the projects continue to progress on schedule.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation is installing traffic signals at the intersections of West Elk Avenue and Williams Avenue at the hospital in Elizabethton and Judge Don Lewis Boulevard and State Route 91 in Stoney Creek.

TDOT Community Relations Officer Mark Nagi said the work on the two lights was 95 percent finished with both projects expected to be complete by Nov. 30 if weather conditions cooperate.

The current contract amount for the two lights is at $482,749.
