Readings at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Feb. 7, will be Isaiah 6:1-8 [9-13] and Luke 5:1-11. The theme is "Creativity Redeems Our Weakness." A news release states, "Here is another set of call stories. First is the call of the prophet Isaiah, who knows that he will be asked to speak to a people who will not hear. Yet he says, 'Here am I, send me.' Jesus calls the disciples by the lakeshore. In both readings, those who are called do not feel up to the task. They do not feel worthy. No matter. The hero and the heroine (and we are all heroes and heroines) are called despite our excuses. We feel weak, vulnerable, scared. OK, so? Creativity redeems our weakness. Creativity turns our weakness into strength. Trust your creativity!" The Rev. John Shuck is the pastor.
