Melvin H. Canter turns
80 years old on June 8
Melvin H. Canter celebrated his 80th birthday on Tuesday, June 8.
Melvin has been married to Ellen M. Wilson Canter for the past 63 years.
He has two sons, Harvey Canter, Telford, and Bobby Canter, Elizabethton, and three daughters, Shirley Price, Judy Wiseman and Karen Stout, all of Elizabethton.
In addition to his 13 grandchildren, he has 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Melvin has resided in Elizabethton for most of his life. He is a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church where he is a deacon.
Melvin has owned several businesses in Elizabethton: Canter's Market, Canter's Greenhouses, Canter's Plumbing and Electric and Canter's Mobile Home Park. He is now retired and spends his time at home with his family.
