No snow? Ho! Ho! It hasn’t slowed Santa’s Stoney Creek helper

So what if there’s been a shortage of snow so far this Christmas season? It hasn’t kept a winter wonderland from growing in Stoney Creek.

Willie Campbell built that scene of wonder from thousands of Christmas lights, dozens of decorative figures and a Christmas spirit that goes well beyond yard decorations.

He helps Santa Claus collect Christmas wishes from Carter County children, and he and other volunteers provide Christmas dinner for more than 300 people at the Carter County Jail every year.

“I enjoy Christmas,” Campbell said. “I always have, from a kid up. I think it is a happy time of the season. It should be that way every day. We need to enjoy the birth of Christ, really. The merchants have taken that away. We need to get back to enjoying ourselves.”

Campbell has been decorating his home at 101 Little Stoney Creek Road since he moved there 35 years ago.
