The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing its investigation into a medical helicopter crash in Tennessee that killed three people.

NTSB spokesman Keith Holloway says an inspector will return Wednesday morning to the site of the crash in a wooded area of Somerville, about 45 miles east of Memphis.

Two hospital workers and a pilot died Tuesday when the helicopter crashed as the aircraft was headed to pick up an ailing child in Bolivar (BAW’-luh-vuhr).

Meri Armour, president and CEO of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, says the Hospital Wing helicopter was cleared for both weather and flight plans when it took off. Authorities began searching when the helicopter didn’t respond during a routine 10-minute check-in.

Holloway says the NTSB investigator will document the wreckage and the crash site.
