Amy J. Baird, 91, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late B. and Emma Birchfield Irick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darnel M. Baird, on December 2, 2008; a daughter, Gloria Jean Baird; three sisters, Bernice Irick Williams, Delmer Irick and Gussie Irick Frazier; and four brothers, Dallas Irick, Tom Irick, Edward “Sport” Irick and Champ “Clark” Irick.
Ms. Baird was a homemaker and a member of Centerview Church of Christ. She loved to garden and to share the fruits of her gardens with others.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including a special great-nephew, Luke Guimond of Elizabethton.
The funeral service for Ms. Baird will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. David Irick, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service. Music will be under the direction of singers from Centerview Church of Christ. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tom Johnson, Jacob Irick, Brian Irick, Jim Andrews, Jess Irick and Wayne Ward. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Arthur Harris and staff, friends and neighbors, members of Centerview Church of Christ, and her family, for all the love and care shown to her during her life. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
