Arthur Bowers


Arthur “Bud” Bowers, 70, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was the son of the late Frank and Nancy Nidiffer Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Bowers, and an infant brother, James Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Bowers, Bristol, Va.; his special friend, Ida Mae Carver, Elizabethton, and her daughter, Sheila Shaffer, Elizabethton; and a sister, Mollie Phillips, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service for Mr. Bowers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 8, in the Buckles Cemetery with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Music will be under the direction of Headed Home. Friends may call at Tetrick Funeral Home at anytime, or at the home of Earlene Myers. Active pallbearers will be Guy Allen, Raymond Bowers, Jack Shaffer, Keith Lewis, Tony Brockwell and Hubert Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Pookie Ensor, Russell Peters, Shannon Shaffer, Dusty Shaffer, Misty Shaffer, Jacob Shaffer, Carson Shaffer, Lucas Simerly and Earlene Myers. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Shriner’s Hospital for Children/Jericho Temple, P.O. Box 5548, Kingsport, TN 37663.
