Barbara Andes Hunter, 59, Elizabethton, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ida Ellis Andes.
Barbara was retired due to disability from Kennametal. She was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. She was an avid Tennessee Vols Fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Andes and Eddie Andes.
Survivors include a brother, David Andes and his fiancée, Sherry Napier, Elizabethton; a nephew, Charles Andes, Bluff City; and a great-niece, Charlsie Andes.
Funeral services for Ms. Hunter will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Derl Curry officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her special friends, Frances Shipley, Dicie and Wayne Rouse and her caregivers. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Barbara to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
