Benny Oliver, 58, of Elizabethton, Tenn., died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Benny was born on January 26, 1955 and spent most of his life here in Elizabethton, Tenn. Benny is survived by his precious mother, Lethia Oliver, and his sister and friend, Jean Asbury, and brother-in-law, Sam Asbury. Benny was a wonderful uncle to their children, Robert and Sierra Asbury, all from Elizabethton. Benny was a loving daddy to his only daughter, Melanie Campbell, and a very proud father-in-law to her husband, Brady Campbell, who live in Seattle, Wash. Benny adored his step-son’s daughter, Makayla Anderson, and loved being called her “Papaw.”
Benny was preceded in death by the love of his life, Vanessa Oliver, and her son, Reggie Anderson, whom he raised as his own son. Also, his father, Robert Oliver, who was his best buddy.
There will be a small Remembrance Ceremony held at the Watauga Dam Overlook on Wednesday, May 1, at 3 p.m. conducted by Pastor Mark Fowler. Those who knew, loved and supported Benny are welcome to attend! Special thanks to all of Benny’s family, friends and extended family for the love, support and many prayers during these last two weeks.
