Carmon F. Simerly


Carmon Frank Simerly, 64, 102 Johnny Jack Private Drive, Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Owens Simerly and Carmon Cable and Goldie Bailey.
Mr. Simerly graduated from Hampton High School in 1967 and retired from North American Rayon Corporation in 2001. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1969. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1982-1989.
Mr. Simerly loved hunting and fishing, playing ball with his dog, Daisy, and playing poker with all his buddies. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lucille Wilson Simerly, of the home; two daughters, Kimberely Hampton and husband William and Joyce Frontz, all of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Joe-Anna Frontz, of the home; four sisters, Louise Stevens and husband Dennis, Frieda Anna Deloach, all of Elizabethton, Carmon Green and husband Ron of North Carolina and Julie Barrett, Elizabethton; a brother, Mark S. Barnette, Elizabethton; special sons-in-law, Joey Frontz, Elizabethton, and Norman Parlier, of the home; and a special sister-in-law, Cordia Nave, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Simerly will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Larry Garland officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery in Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Kimberely Hampton, Joyce Frontz, Joe-Anna Frontz, Joey Frontz, Norman Parlier and Mark S. Barnette. Honorary pallbearers will be William Hampton and Michael Simerly. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
