Carol Ann Hodge


Carol Ann Hodge, 73, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John D. Wilcox and Eula Edens Wilcox.
Ann retired from Siemens in Johnson City. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church where she was a very active member and enjoyed her Sunday School and church fellowship. She spread love to so many people and has had a huge impact on the lives of others. Her loving family and friendships were the center of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hodge, and a brother, Harry “Bud” Wilcox.
Survivors include her beloved life partner of 47 years, Bill Smithey, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Zannis and husband Pete, Hilton Head, S.C., and Vicki Wilson and husband Myron, Bristol, Tenn.; two grandsons, Tyler Wilson and Nicholas Wilson; a brother, Jimmy Wilcox, Elizabethton, Tenn.; a nephew, Jonathan Wilcox, Elizabethton, Tenn.; and nieces, Crystal Wilcox, Bristol, Tenn., Diana Newberry, Mebane, N.C., and Debbie Wilcox, Bradenton, Fla. Her special dog, “Baby,” also survives.
A Celebration of Life Service for Carol Ann Hodge will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, October 11, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The family would like to express a special loving thanks to Ann’s church family and her very special group, the “Lizards.” Those who prefer memorials may make donations to Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
