Carol J. Hardin Reece

Carol J. Hardin Reece, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness. She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Clarence H. and Maggie Frazier Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Reece, on March 17, 1999; one sister, Ann Hardin Bowery; one brother, Peter E. Hardin; and an infant brother, Paul Edward Hardin

Ms. Reece was the owner and operator of Little People Daycare, until her retirement. She was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church and attended Slagles United Methodist Church. She was former President of the Daycare Association.

Survivors include one son, Charles E. Reece and wife Pattie, Elizabethton; one sister, Kathryn Hardin Morton and husband Robert J. Morton, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Steven “Bo” Reece and Sarah A. Reece, both of Elizabethton; three great grandchildren, Austin Bowman, Alexis Reece, and Catlin Reece, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The celebration of life service for Ms. Reece will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Estel Williams, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service; or at the residence of a sister, Kathryn Hardin Morton, 389 Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the Highland Cemetery, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Johnson, Rick Hardin, and Eddie Bowery. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Elizabethton Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
