Clarence E. Ward, 89, son of the late Dewey and Jypsy Ward, passed away peacefully October 23, 2012, in Nashville, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sue Ward, Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Michael Ward, Coffeeville, Kansas; daughters, Shirley Hassel and husband, Gary, Napa, Calif., and Anna Broyles and husband Raymond, Elizabethton, Tenn.; a sister, Jewel Dean McCloud and husband Glen “Bud” of Butler, Tenn.; a brother, Odis Ward and wife, Margaret, of Johnson City, Tenn.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Clarence had many cousins whom he loved dearly in and around his hometown, as well as many friends in other parts of the country. He was an avid hunter and especially loved to fish. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II where he received numerous medals. He was so proud of his service to his country.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, George and Ronnie Ward, and his brother, George Marvin Ward.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 10, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. followed by a military graveside service.
