Conley Burchfield, 97, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William and Betty Hyder Burchfield.
Mr. Burchfield worked for many years at the American Bemberg Corporation and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lovada Quillen Burchfield, on December 4, 2000; by a daughter, Wanda Burchfield; a son, Kyle Burchfield; a grandson, Phillip Paul Burchfield; one sister and six brothers.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and John Perkins and Charlotte and Irby Jones, all of Elizabethton; six sons, Jack Burchfield, Phillip Burchfield and wife Pauline, and Ray Burchfield and wife Tina, all of Elizabethton; Wayne Burchfield and wife Susie, of South Carolina; Lynn Burchfield and wife Linda, of Watauga; and Gary Burchfield, of Johnson City; 28 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. John Perkins officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Conley’s grandsons. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
