Deborah C. “Debbie” Pierce, 56, Piney Flats, entered into rest, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Elizabethton and had lived in Roanoke, Va. for a number of years before returning to the Tri-Cities. Debbie was a 1975 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a daughter of the late Kermit and Helen Tucker Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Smith; a nephew, David Scott Smith; and her father-in-law, Wayne Pierce. She was employed by Bell Helicopter in Piney Flats. She attended Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 24 years, Chuck Pierce; three brothers, Sonny Smith and wife Pat, Elizabethton, Kermit Smith and Wife Cindy, Watauga, and David Smith and wife Saundra, Blackwater, Va.; a sister, Brenda Davidson, Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews and other family members; her mother-in-law, Faye Pierce, Elizabethton; and her beloved dog, Sadie.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Largent officiating. Private entombment services will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Lisa McGovern, pianist. Honorary pallbearers will be her work family from Bell Helicopter. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her niece and caregiver Susan Holtsclaw, Dr. Robert Enck and the staff from the Regional Cancer Center and to the nurses at Mountain States Hospice.
