Dewey Rondal “Randy” Scalf


Dewey Rondal “Randy” Scalf, 74, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in the Hermitage Health Care. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Chester and Nell Bowling Scalf. He served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Cable Splicer Contractor. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Scalf and Harrison “Skip” Scalf, and a sister, Dorothy “Toss” Hardin.

Survivors include his wife: Valerie Lingerfelt Scalf; three daughters: Rhonda Guess and husband Terry and Terry and Danny Putland, all of Elizabethton, and Joy Kibbee and husband Darrel, Idaho Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Amy and Kenly Hunter, Dusty and Mel Ramey, Charles Lawrence, Benjamin Putland and Steven Putland; six great-grandchildren, Kennen, Kaiden, Kenzie, M.J., Payton and Adain; a brother-in-law, Randy Lingerfelt; a sister-in-law, Gale Reyes and husband Walley; his nieces and their husbands, Sue and Larry Pritchard and Rose and Wayne Hill; his nephews; Larry ad Gail Scalf and Darin and Scott Scalf; and his special friends, John, Nuboy, Ferd and Pete. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the excellent care that was received.

Private Graveside Services were conducted Monday, November 25, 2013, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard. Condolences may be e-mailed to
