Edna Bessie Willey, 86, Hampton, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at her residence.

A native of Carter County, Mrs. Willey was a daughter of the late William and Agnes Oliver Wilson. She was a graduate of the Siam High School, where she was valedictorian of her class.

Mrs. Willey was a homemaker, and loved working in her flowers and garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Willey, October 19, 1971; two sons: James Elbert Willey and David Ralph Willey; two sisters, Maybelle Carden and Lenore Delaney; and two Brothers, Johnny Wilson and Jerry Davenport.

Mrs. Willey was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice Daniels of the home; Edna Nash and her husband Daniel, Aiken, South Carolina; and Joyce Hoyle, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, William “Buster” and Margaret Willey, Elizabethton; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren

She is also survived by three brothers, Ralph Wilson, Elizabethton; William Davenport, Newbern, North Carolina; and James Wilson, Hickory, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

Her special friends, Connie and Jack Roberts and David Estep also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Merritt officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday include Paul Scalf, Jr., Anthony Richardson, Michael Kelly, Jack Roberts, Daniel Hyatt and Kenneth Coates.

The family would like to express a special “thank uou” to Amedisys Hospice, especially Sherrie White.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure of Breast Cancer, 301 Louis Street, Suite 304, Kingsport, Tn. 37660.

Friends may call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
