Everett Pendelbury Springer, Jr., 81, Elizabethton passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at his residence. A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Everett Pendelbury Springer, Sr and Allie Story Springer.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had lived in North Carolina for several years. He was a retired Supervisor with Freightliner Manufacturing, Cleveland, N.C. Mr. Springer was a member and chairman of the Deacons Board of Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna McKinney, two sisters, and seven brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Delores Hobbs Springer; five children, Sandra Rivers and husband Charles, Polkton, N.C., Patricia Holshouser and husband Kenneth, Orlando, Fla., Timothy Springer and his companion Tammy Wilhoit, Albemarle, N.C., Joe Springer and wife Renee, Gold Hill, N.C., and Keith Springer and wife Amanda, Elizabethton; 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Hobbs, Fortville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Gouge and the Rev. Greg Largent officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Music will be provided by Bobby Woods. Active pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Mountain States Hospice and the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church family. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Springer to the Building Fund, Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church, 111 Manning St., Elizabethton, TN 37643. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to email@example.com.
