Evon Taylor Stevens, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Amanda Taylor.
Mrs. Stevens was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Phillip Stevens, July 3, 1978; a son, Tony Brooks Bowman; four brothers, Everett, Delmar, Gene and Darrell Taylor; and a sister, Shirley Hackett.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Bowman and wife Lora, Elizabethton, Charles Bowman, Hampton, and Norman Wayne Lewis of New Jersey; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Blanche Campbell of Maryland, Earlene Cramer and Glenda Sue Taylor, both of New Jersey; and two brothers, Clarence Taylor of Maryland and Lester Taylor, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Stevens will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 18, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
