George Jones, 47, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Q. Jones.
Mr. Jones was self-employed as a mason and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
George was the love of his wife Judy’s life and loved her children, Shondar and Gavin McKinney, as his own. Most people knew him for his many years at Greg’s Pizza and boy could he make one! He loved to cook, shoot pool and fish with his dear friend, Moe; talk with anyone, and everyone, about the Lord; and spend time with Annabella, his niece, and Kayden, his granddaughter. George was bigger than life; not just in size, but his conversations and expectations of others. He had the best brother anyone could ask for and family and friends that stuck by him through the hard times, encouraging and praying for him. He was a little rough around the edges, but the most observant and attentive man I have known. Some called him sensitive and that’s OK, we need more sensitive men these days. He can never be replaced, as can none of us. He wanted everyone to know God, not just know about God, for our time is too short here to waste. George invested himself in people and he loved them above everything, except his love of Christ. So…when you sit with your friend for lunch or your family for dinner, don’t waste time talking about your ailments, the weather or car; rather talk about how much you appreciate them, how precious they are to you and how God can use them to change things. One person can make a difference…George did. I can’t wait to see him again. ~ Judy.
