Howard Edward Hardin, 64, of Elizabethton, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Howard Daniel and Mabel Iler Andrews Hardin.
Mr. Hyder was a retired automotive body repair man. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Hardin was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Ray and Carl Dwight Hardin.
Survivors include a child in Tampa, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dan Calloway, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Patricia Hardin, Lexington, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Beth.
Graveside services for Mr. Hardin will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dan Calloway, 394 Holston Mountain Road, Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Hardin to the American Diabetes Association, Knoxville TN Office, 211 Center Park Drive, Suite 3010, Knoxville, TN 37922.
