J.B. Heaton


J.B. Heaton, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Blaine and Susan Bowman Heaton.
Mr. Heaton was a retired employee of the Alemite Corporation. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Heaton was a member of Stoney Creek Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Anna Guinn Heaton; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Markita Heaton, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Terry Feathers, Johnson City; a sister, Lou May, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and his four-legged friend, CoCo.
The funeral service for Mr. Heaton will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Wesley Simons and Mr. Eddy Craft, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by the congregation. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the nursing staff of James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Hall C1, and Dr. Reed and her staff. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. To those who prefer memorials may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
