Jonathan was a native of Elizabethton and a son of James Herbert Nye II and Katrina Heaton Nye.
Jonathan was a first grade student at Harold McCormick Elementary. He loved any kind of “Ball,” wrestling, Batman and Spiderman, and he was always happy.
His paternal great-grandfather, James Herbert Nye; a brother, Dalton J. Moffitt; and a step-brother, Dillon Street, preceded Jonathan in death.
Survivors include his father, James Herbert Nye II of Elizabethton; his mother, Katrina Heaton Nye of Elizabethton; a brother, James Herbert “Jamie” Nye III; two sisters, Jocelyn Nye-Hicks and Jimma Nye, both of Elizabethton; his step-mother, Kristy Nye, and a step-sister, both of Elizabethton; his paternal grandmother, Barbara Nye, and maternal grandmother and grandfather, Teresa McNeil and Marvin Estep, all of Elizabethton; several aunts, uncles, cousins and great-grandparents.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, in the Blevins Cemetery, Roan Mountain, under the direction of Rev. Raymond Amos. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and then leave in procession to the cemetery from Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
