NEWLAND, N.C. — Josie Geneva Puckett Shell, 78, of Elk Park, N.C., passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Avery County, she was born May 30, 1934, a daughter of the late Elijah and Rose Moody Puckett.
Mrs. Shell was a homemaker and a member of Heaton Christian Church. Along with her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Homer P. Shell Sr.; brothers, George Moody and Bill Puckett; and sisters, Lear Puckett, Fannie Guinn and Maxine Puckett.
Josie has left to cherish her memory her daughters, Connie Hoilman and husband Mike of Johnson City, Tenn., Sheri Cornett and husband Larry of Crossnore, N.C., and Melissa Baird and husband Randy of Elk Park, N.C.; sons, Ralph Puckett, of the home, and Homer James “Jamie” Shell of Newland, N.C.; stepsons, Homer P. Shell Jr. and wife Lillian of Las Vegas, Nev., and Eddie Ray Shell and wife Cathy of Elk Park, N.C.; grandchildren, Christina Pearrell, Amy Hoilman, Brandon Baird, Aaron Baird, Estes Shell, Gabe Shell, Alina Shell and James Shell; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hensley and Steven Hensley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shell will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at the Heaton Christian Church with Mr. Brent Nidiffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Heaton Cemetery.
