Juanita Brown Jones, 90, of Hickory, N.C., passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born February 23, 1923, in Limestone, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Mae Fox Brown and Allen W. Brown of Elizabethton, Tenn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ralph Jones.
A member of Viewmont Baptist Church, Mrs. Jones enjoyed cooking, interior decorating and most of all spending time with her grandson. She was an avid bridge player and was a senior member of the weekly Senior Bridge Club of Hickory.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Jones Biggerstaff and husband Joe of Vale, N.C.; a son, J. Michael Jones and wife Genie A. Greenlaw of Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Oscar Brown of Elizabethton, Tenn., and William Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Sue Geisler of Johnson City, Tenn.; and a beloved grandson, Samuel Clayton Biggerstaff of Vale, N.C.
The funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Jay Robison officiating. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Anyone preferring may give memorials to Viewmont Baptist Church, 1246 2nd St., NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
