Larry J. Hardin
Larry John Hardin, 71, Johnson City, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Wednesday morning, February 1, 2012, at the Christian Care Center, Johnson City.
Larry was born October 14, 1940 in Elizabethton and was a son of the late Ottie Hardin and Hildred (Clemmons) Hardin.
Larry was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and a retired school teacher. Larry was multi-talented and was best known for being an accomplished musician and singer using this talent in leading church choirs and singing in nursing homes.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Hardin; two brothers, Lynn Hardin, Elizabethton, and Eddie Hardin, Greenwood, S.C. Larry also had a twin brother, Garry Hardin, who went to be with the Lord, July 14, 2009. He was very fond and proud of all his nieces and nephews: Joe Hardin, Elizabeth Parks, Jonathan Hardin, Chris Hardin, Jill Laws, Sheri Nelson and Tammie Harmon. Larry has many special friends and other relatives, too numerous to mention, but Steve Myers has been a close friend for many years. Additionally, Larry and the family have many friends from the Siam Community of Carter County where Larry lived his early life and attended Siam Baptist Church.
Special thanks to all the friends, relatives, nieces and nephews who visited Larry during his last days.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Hardin II officiating. Special music will be provided by Sheri Nelson and Dr. Joe Hardin II. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday. Entombment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hardin, Johnny Laws, Gary Nelson, Tony Harmon, Tyler Harmon, Chris Hardin and Ed Dwyer.
