Margaret Evelyn Nidiffer Lyons, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Amelia Ensor Nidiffer.
Mrs. Lyons was a retired employee of Elizabethton Steam Laundry. She was a member of the Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “June” Lyons; three brothers, Howard, R.C. and Kyle Nidiffer; and two sisters, Veulah Stout and Norma Lee Nidiffer.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Lyons, Toledo, Ohio, Karen Snell, Niceville, Fla., and Carol Wilson, Clarklake, Mich.; three sons, Gary Lyons, Elizabethton, Jeffrey and Ron Lyons, both of Niceville, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Chalmer and Norma Nidiffer, Nashville, Earnest and Virginia and Ken and Linda Nidiffer, all of Elizabethton; a sister and brother-in-law, Velda and Harry Gregg, Watauga; two sisters-in-law, Marsa Nidiffer, Elizabethton, and Shirley Nidiffer, Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Margaret and Hazel Street.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lyons will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Dungan Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Heaton and the Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and Joyce Salyer, soloist. Interment will follow in the Ensor Cemetery with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Steve Garland, Daniel Nidiffer, Archie Lyons, Shawn Stininger, Travis Nidiffer, Steve Nidiffer and Virgil Stout. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the excellent care that was received.
