Mrs. Marie Miller, age 86, of Hampton, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at her residence after an ongoing illness.
A native of Old Butler, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Daisy Weaver Millsaps. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Monroe Blaine Miller; two sisters, Ann Cannon and Juanita Baird, and a brother, Alvin Millsaps.
Marie was a homemaker and was a member of Pierce’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. The family’s loss was heaven’s gain.
Survivors include a daughter, Christy Hodges and husband, Chris, Hampton; two sons, Bennie Miller and wife, Joyce, and Roy Miller and wife, Linda, all of Maryland; grandchildren, Sharon Washburn and husband, Vern, Sandy Dowell, Pam Fleming, Lisa Green and husband, Chris, and Brandon Hodges and wife, Jessie, and great-grandchildren, Derek, Christian, Noah, Michael, Jeremy, Brandy, Michala, Paige and Kiersten. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mrs. Marie Miller will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with Rev. Steve Waycaster, Rev John Stevens and Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jennifer Crabtree Hill, soloist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at anytime. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Billy Berry, Austin Jaynes, Nathan Jenkins, Kevin Harrison, Ben Harrison and Alex Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Miller and Jeremy Green. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
