Mary Alice Stalcup Buck, 77, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late William Leslie and Eula Fern Robinson Stalcup. She had lived in Johnson City since 1964.
Mary was retired from H.I.S., Johnson City. She was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Mary loved to work in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Buck, who died March 21, 1999.
Survivors include her son, William N. Buck and wife Sherri, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Zachary Buck, Jeffrey, Jason, Deranda and Courtney Fair; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Billy J. Stalcup and wife Nicole, Alexandria, Va., and John Paul Stalcup and wife Betty, Johnson City; one aunt, Edna Kyte, Butler; and one uncle, Charles Norris, Butler. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Buck will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Jenkins, the Rev. Terry Jones and the Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Music will be provided by the Ladies Trio of Keystone Free Will Baptist Church and Cathy Fagan. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, will be Don Dweyer, Wayne Bledsoe, Will Easler, John Stalcup Jr., Stacey Stalcup and Todd Weise. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family and the Joy Sunday School Class. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Brenda and Arthur Buck and Betty and Paul Stalcup for taking excellent care she received and also to Boone Trail Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.
