Nancy Pauline Lyons, 91, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Lyons was a very devout Christian her entire life. She was the daughter of the late John and Stella Simerly Arrowood of Valley Forge.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin W. Lyons, who died August 4, 1997. She retired from Milligan College, where she worked in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Lyons was the loving mother of six children, Shelby Lyons and wife, Linda, of Johnson City, and Charlotte Byers and husband, Ray, Frankie Lovette and husband, Bob, Ray Lyons and wife, Janice, Sam Lyons and wife, Sharon Dennison, and Jerry Lyons and wife, Barbara, all of Elizabethton.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Nancy Pauline Lyons will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Alan King, pastor of Zion Baptist Church, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rebecca Osborne. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel prior to the service.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in the Lyons Cemetery, located on Cash Hollow Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be Michael Lyons, Josh Lyons, Danny Ward, Nathan Ward, Sam Lyons and Scotty Lovette. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Lyons, Jr., Galen White, Sam Lyons Jr., Jay Waters, Robert Lovette and John Carter.
