Norman Hobart Vines, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dewey Vines and Virtie Stines Vines Whaley.
Mr. Vines was retired from Hampton Print Works as a truck driver. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Stanley Vines; a son, Gary Wayne Vines; and a sister, Martha Guinn.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Michael Chase, Jonesborough; a son, Michael Lynn Vines, of the home; five grandchildren, Marcus Hill, Brandon Vines, Lacey Vines, Mattie Chase and Billy Chase; and four brothers, Bob, Tony and Gilbert Vines, all of Elizabethton, and Danny Vines, Kingsport. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Mr. Vines will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Rhoton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at East Side Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
