Okie O. Reece, 95, formerly of Hampton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center.
She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Waltz and Ida Brewer Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Reece; a son, Carroll Ray Reece; a daughter, Glenda Kay Reece; and three sisters.
Mrs. Reece was a homemaker and a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Elwanda Shupe and husband Mitchell, Johnson City, Martha Vines, Butler, Sharie Hicks, Elk Park, N.C., Anita Blackwell, Elizabethton, and Karen Yates and husband Donald, Hampton, and six sons, D.W. Reece and wife Dorothy, Butler, Bobby Reece, Elizabethton, Cecil Reece and wife Kelly, Elizabethton, Wayne Reece and wife Linda, Hampton, Leonard Reece and wife Sheila, Butler, and Richard Reece and wife Brenda, Elizabethton. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a memorial service for Mrs. Reece at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at the Eternal Life Baptist Church, Highway 19E, Hampton, with Rev. Donald Yates and Rev. Jack Maupin officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The inurnment will follow in the Reece Cemetery, Whaleytown Road, in Butler.
