SMITHVILLE, Mo. — Rachael Myrrh Taul, 90, died on August 6, 2013 in Manassas, Va. She was born on November 3, 1922 on the family farm near Smithville, Mo., and attended local schools in Clay County. She received a B.S. in education from Northwest Missouri State University and an M.S. in education from Cornell University.
Prior to moving to Manassas in 2003, Ms. Taul had made her home in Denver, Colo., for 50 years. She was retired from the Denver Public Schools, where she spent her career as a high school teacher and administrator. In Denver, she was a very active member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher. She was also an active volunteer with the International Red Cross for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Violet Harbaugh Taul, and two brothers, John H. Taul and Charles H. Taul.
Ms. Taul is survived by her sister, Mary Lloyd Shultz, Manassas, formerly of Elizabethton; her sister-in-law, Martha W. Taul, Hartselle, Ala.; three nieces, Rachael A. Shultz, Manassas, Charlsa T. Perdew (David), Eva, Ala., and Candice T. Williams (Benjamin), Ethiopia; a grandniece, Hannah R. Williams, Birmingham, Ala.; and a grandnephew, Jacob P. Williams, Auburn, Ala.
A graveside service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Smithville on Saturday, September 7. For those who wish to make memorials, the family suggests contributions to Smithville First Christian Church, 201 N. Bridge Street, Smithville, MO 64089.
