Roy Leslie Richardson, 86, 156 Richardson Hollow Road, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Noah and Pearl Estes Richardson.
Mr. Richardson was a Heavy Machine Operator. He loved to garden, hunt, fish and was a beekeeper. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved baseball.
Mr. Richardson was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of Unaka Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Noah Richardson Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Beulah Finney Richardson; his children, Bobby Richardson, James Richardson and wife Judy and Pamela Martin and husband Lee, all of Elizabethton, and Patsy Williams, of the home; his grandchildren, Donald Leslie Richardson, Dena Laws, Candy Shelton, Charice Richardson and Christopher Richardson; his great-grandchildren, Stephen, Lucas and McKenna; a great-great-granddaughter, Jordan Hilman; a brother, Floyd Richardson; and a sister, Lela Taylor.
Funeral services for Mr. Richardson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. James Richardson, Rev. Richard Estep and Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be provided by Charice and Shea Richardson. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, in the Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, will be Leon Blevins, Dwight Proffitt, Aubrey Ensor, C.H. Taylor, Gary Arnold, Jessie Lingerfelt and Glen Arnold. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the Richardson family may be e-mailed to email@example.com.
