Ruby Lorene Banner, 82, Hampton passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 in the Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Pardee Banner and Ida Banner Heaton. She was a graduate of Cloudland High School and East Tennessee State College. In her earlier years she had taught school. Ruby was a member of the Centerview Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Roma L. Heaton, Jr. and Clyde F. Heaton and her step-father: Roma L. Heaton, Sr.
Survivors include two sisters: Shirley Irick, Elizabethton and Hazel Pierce and husband Gary, Fresno, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law: L.J. & Betty Heaton, Hampton and Charles & Dorothy Heaton, Elizabethton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Irick, minister officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a sister: Shirley Irick, 582 Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff and care givers of Hillview Health Center for the good care and love shown to her over the years.
