Sammie Howard Arnett, 72, Hampton, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Paul and Geneva Grace Simerly Arnett.
Mr. Arnett was a retired carpenter. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Arnett served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Arnett and Bill Arnett.
Survivors include four sisters, Betty McNeil and Margie Walsh, both of Hampton, Shirley Anderson, Hopewell, Va., and Helen Carter, Blountville; five brothers, R.J., Andy and Bobby Arnett, all of Hampton, Randy Arnett, Richmond, Va., and Douglas Arnett, Powhatan, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Mildred Jean Carson (her name was omitted by mistake in the previously published obit).
Graveside services for Mr. Arnett will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, September 5, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military Honors and pallbearers will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard.
