Sylvia Guy, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness.

She was a daughter of the late Riley and Emma Jane Church Clawson and was born in Cass County, W.Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Church, and a nephew, Michael Church.

Mrs. Guy was a retired teacher and was the past owner of Princess Motel in Maryville, Tenn. She also worked at Fischer Body Company in Detroit.

Mrs. Guy was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Alvin Guy, Elizabethton; a daughter, Linda Cloutier and her husband, Harold, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Matthew Cloutier and his wife, Stephanie, Clarkston, Mich., and Mark Cloutier and his wife, Gina, Grand Blanc, Mich.; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Cristine Cloutier.

The funeral service for Mrs. Guy will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Roby Ellis, minister, and Mr. Eddy Craft, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
