Thomas J. Lovelace

Thomas J. Lovelace, 76, Hampton, passed away Monday, October 1, 2013, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Carrie Russell Lovelace.
Thomas was a 1954 graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army where he received the rank of Corporal.
Thomas was a machine operator at North American Rayon Corporation for a number of years and retired from Harris Tarkett, Johnson City. He was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Hardin and Pauline Lewis, and seven brothers, Harold, Orden, John, Clinton, Edward, Noah and Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Faye Minton Lovelace; a daughter, Angie Halcomb and husband Sammie, Bluffton, Ohio; two sons, Greg Lovelace and wife Ruth and Jeff Lovelace and wife Robin, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Christopher, Noah, Andrea, Whitney and Rustie; two great-grandchildren, Makaylah Crowe and Jaykob Crowe; and a brother, Glenn Lovelace, Detroit, Mich. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Lovelace will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson and the Rev. Charlie Biggs officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Dean Presnell. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Tolley, Robert Sluder, Andy Arnett, Traye Townsend, Ed Jr. Lovelace, Christopher Lovelace and John Presnell. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Southside Free Will Baptist Church. Military Honors will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends at Southside Free Will Baptist Church following the graveside service Friday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the Lovelace family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
