Thurman “T.J.” Elliott, Jr.

Thurman “T.J.” Elliott, Jr., 68, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born in Woodbury, Tenn. to the late Thurman J. Elliott Sr. and Nova Jennings Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Elliott.

Mr. Elliott was a contract administrator for Raytheon and also did consulting work with P.T. in Roanoke, Va. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from ETSU. He attended Elizabethton Church of Christ and was a lifetime member of the NRA and Kettlefoot Rod and Gun Club. He was on the board of directors of Kettlefoot Recreation and he was an avid tennis player, loved golf, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Kay Elliott, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Randall J. and Mary Lisa Elliott, Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Lisa Lankford and husband Derrell, Nashville; and Cynthia Beaudin and husband Tom, Manchester, N.H.; three granddaughters, Autumn Lankford, Lacey Lankford, and Dalianna Beaudin. Nieces and nephews also survive.

The celebration of life service for Mr. Elliott will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Roby Ellis, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday; or at the residence at anytime. Music will be under the direction of Elizabethton Church of Christ.

The interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Richard Knode, Doug McCloud, Bill Bennett, Terry Dalton, Tom Beaudin, Ken Burrow, Brent Terry and Russell Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Pratt, Tim Moore, Ronnie Neece, Steve Neece, Ray Jamison, Jerry Jamison, Norman Jamison, Bob Anderson and John Adams.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU Unit at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital and to Vanderbilt Digestive Disease Center, for all the love and care shown to Mr. Elliott during his illness.
