Viola Nell Trusler Perry, 89, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Wise County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Lewis and Rose Ellen Large Trusler. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Mrs. Perry had lived a number of years in St. Louis, Mo., before returning to Elizabethton. She was employed by the Sunline Candy Company and was a member of Roan Street Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Perry, July 15, 1993; a son, Raymond Perry; four brothers, Carl, Lawrence, Robert and Paul Trusler; and four sisters, Pauline Hart, Margaret Hite, Mary Bell Cottle and Georgia Estep.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Kenneth Jerden, St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, John Perry and wife Pat and Paul Perry, all of Elizabethton; two adopted children, Glen Perry, Elizabethton, and Sherry Perry, St. Louis, Mo.; a step-son, Robert Warren Perry, St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Whitlock, Johnson City, Louise Woodside, Waterboro, S.C., and Shelby Harriott, Burgaw, N.C.; and a brother, Glen Trusler, Burgaw, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perry will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Roan Street Church of God with Pastor Kenneth Bewley officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Lowell Shell. Music will be provided by Fornie Danner. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from nephews. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Jonathan at Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends at the church from noon Saturday until the service hour.
